Nicolas

Hi fellow delegates and welcome to PANAMUN XXVII. My name is Nico Tapies, I am a senior at the International School of Panama. I am originally from the US and Spain and I’ve lived in many places around the world. At ISP I am a member of both the varsity volleyball and basketball teams, I am the Vice President of our school’s Student Government and a team captain on our NearSpace team. Because of my participation in athletics, I have not had much experience in a formal MUN setting but I have had experience with the student preparation involved. I do love a respectful and thought-provoking debate and I know that I will be thinking about the intriguing arguments presented long after the event ends. I will be chairing for UNDP II can’t wait to work with you all! So you soon!

Miranda

Welcome delegates to PANAMUN XXVII! My name is Miranda Delgado, I am a sophomore at the Metropolitan School of Panama and I have the honour of being a chair for the United Nations Development Programme this year. I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela but I have been living in Panama for over ten years. My love for debate has always been a part of me, my whole life I have looked for opportunities to challenge people’s opinions and I have made it a habit to approach issues from multiple points of view. However, it wasn’t until eight grade that I discovered a club that would help me take this skill even further. Ever since, I have been participating in conferences as a delegate, by being involved in the organization, and now chairing. My experience has taught me the importance of speaking up and being authentic, which is my biggest advice for all of you. I encourage everyone to come to the conference with an in-depth understanding of your position, make sure that you know what you want and that you communicate it at all times. I am eager to hear all about the innovative ideas that will arise from the three days of debate, working together to find real solutions is what makes our work so significant. Hopefully, our unique situation isn’t what will make this conference so memorable, rather the excitement we will all share.
