Marian

Hi delegates, welcome to PANAMUN XXVII! My name is Marian Cajiga, and I am currently a senior at the International School of Panama. I am very honored to be a chair in the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees committee and I’m looking forward to meeting you all. I was born in Brussels, Belgium where I lived 4 years, and then moved to Panama City. I consider myself Mexican since once a year I visit my family that lives in Mexico City. I started to gain experience in MUN when I was in 8th grade which enlightened my passion for debate. As I keep getting more involved, MUN continues to surprise me and help me grow as a debater. It has offered me so many great opportunities, such as learning how to fight for my beliefs and learning how to have my own voice. Apart from debate, I also enjoy playing different kinds of sports such as tennis and flag football. Once again, I am really glad you are taking part in this committee and I will make sure we all have a collaborative session! Thank you all for participating in this year's conference and I wish you the best of luck!

Maanya

Hi delegates and welcome to PANAMUN! My name is Maanya Madan, I am currently a junior (11th grade) at the Atlanta International School in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. I am honored to be one of the chairs for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in PANAMUN this year. I was originally born near Atlanta, Georgia, but moved to India for a short period before moving back to Atlanta. I have participated in PANAMUN twice, once in person and once virtually due to the pandemic that has changed all our lives. I participated in my first MUN conference in 7th grade, and even though I was anxious for the first few minutes, I quickly fell in love with the way we got to learn about different world issues, represent different countries, and find our voices, ever since then I have participated in each conference that I had the chance to be a part of. Apart from MUN, I am also on our school robotics team and anti-human trafficking team, I love watching and playing soccer and spending time with my friends. I cannot wait to meet you all and to chair this committee. I cannot wait to see the creative way all of you discuss/debate this issue and the creative solutions that you collectively come up with. I hope this will be a fun and exciting experience!!  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at maanya.madan@aischool.org. I can’t wait to meet you all.
