Mariana Canakis
Deputy Secretary General of Middle School
Hello Everybody!
My name is Mariana Canakis and I’m honored to serve as Deputy Secretary General of Middle School for PANAMUN XXXI alongside Diego Mainardi. I am currently a junior at the International School of Panama making this my 6th year at ISP and my 6th PANAMUN conference. I am originally from Argentina and Venezuela but throughout my life, I have lived in five different countries which has played a significant role in my passion for MUN and international relations. When I’m not debating I spend my time playing tennis, taking pictures, or spending time with my friends and family.
MUN began for me in 6th grade when I moved to Panama. I was presented with the opportunity to join the MS Diplomacy Club which at the time seemed like a good occasion to argue with people. Six years later I can confidently say that I was right, I do enjoy arguing with people, but more than that, MUN has become an essential part of my life. Over the last years, I have attended 11 conferences nationally and internationally both as a chair and a delegate.
I am fully dedicated to making sure that all middle schoolers have the best and most enjoyable PANAMUN conference possible just like I did and empower the leaders of tomorrow who will continue the PANAMUN legacy.
Alongside Diego Mainardi and the entirety of the Secretariat, we are dedicated to working hard during PANAMAUN XXXI and are extremely proud and excited to have the opportunity of making this experience possible once again at ISP. I can’t wait to meet you all. See you in October!
