CHAIRS

Clara

Hi delegates! My name is Clara Crystal and I am currently a junior at the International School of Panama. I was born in Boston, Massachusetts but I have lived in Panama for most of my life. This year I have the honor and privilege of being one of the Chairs of the Middle School UNICEF in the upcoming PANAMUN XXIX Conference! I have been in debate club since 7th grade and I have gone to five MUN conferences since. When I first started, I didn’t have the guts to even ask questions, but I have grown from the experiences and I have fallen in love with debating. Apart from debate, I am part of my school’s track team as a sprinter and thrower but also in our string quartet playing the cello. I also enjoy reading so if you have any book recommendations, please let me know! I want to bring an environment where we are comfortable in interacting with diverse opinions; and I am eager to see the fruitful debate ahead of us. Good luck with your preparations, see you soon future diplomats!

Felipe

Hi, delegates! My name is Felipe Correa and I would like to give you all a warm welcome to PANAMUN XXIX. I am currently a Junior at the International School of Panama and I am very excited to be one of the chairs for the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund and meet all of you. I was born in Bogotá, Colombia but I’m also American and I’ve lived in four different countries. Some of my hobbies include playing sports like basketball and soccer, playing the guitar, and reading. This will be my third time participating in PANAMUN (I was a delegate for the SOCHUM and the UNPBC committees in previous conferences) and I am very honored to be a chair for the first time. I love debating because it is all about seeing different perspectives and points of view while learning to respect them even when you disagree with them. This past year and a half have been tough on everybody which is why the theme of this PANAMUN is all about recovering hope and helping the world move towards a brighter future. I know we are going to have an amazing time and learn new things this October. I look forward to seeing all of you!

Juliana

Hello delegates! Welcome to PANAMUN XXIX! My name is Juliana Duarte and I’m a senior at The International School of Panama. I’m extremely honored to be part of this year’s conference and be able to be a chair of the Middle School United Nations Children’s Emergency Funds Committee. I was originally born in Panama City yet I consider myself Colombian since all my family is from there. My first MUN conference was in 9th grade and since then I have started to have a passion for debate. This is because I love to fight for what I believe in and how I’m able to use my voice to create a change in society! Apart from debate, I love spending time with my family and friends, trying new things, and playing sports. Once again I’m extremely excited to be able to be part of this conference and even though it’s my first time being a chair I believe that we will have an amazing experience and that we will help each other out. I wish you all the best of luck and can’t wait to meet you!
