Stefano Pecile

Welcome to PANAMUN XXVI! My name is Stefano Pecile and I will be one of this year’s chairs for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) committee. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela but have been living in Panama since 2010. I am currently a Junior at ISP and I have participated in two PANAMUN conferences. Debating and public speaking have always been great passions of mine that have been highly rewarding throughout my life. Apart from debating and public speaking, I enjoy playing basketball, working out, playing video games and hanging out with my friends. As a chair for the UNHCR committee, I am very excited to meet all of you and have a great debate experience. If you have any questions, doubts or concerns don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to see you delegates in October and making this year’s conference the best one yet!

Hey Delegates,

My name is Victor-James Verhelst and I’m a sophomore at the International School of Panama. I’m from Belgium but I have had some stops in the United States and France before recently starting a new experience here in Panama. Outside of class I really enjoy sports and I’m on the school’s tennis and volleyball teams but I also enjoy playing basketball and sprinting. I was introduced to Model United Nations in eighth grade in France and have pursued debating ever since. I am super excited about this inaugural session of Panamun for Middle school and by taking part as a chair in the “World Health Organization Committee”. I hope you are to as I believe this new initiative is a great way to form you: younger delegates to become successful later in debating.  I look forward to meeting all of you and to do my best to keep an exciting and interactive debate. I hope we will succeed in making your first ever Middle School Panamun a great one. See you soon!

Hello delegates and welcome to PANAMUN XXVI! My name is Marianna Mavares and I am currently a sophomore at the International School of Panama. I was born in Denmark but I am Venezuelan and Portuguese. However, I have lived in 6 different countries; Denmark, Venezuela, UK, Spain, US, and now Panama. I have been in ISP for almost 3 years. My first MUN conference was PANAMUN XXIV when I was in 8th grade. Since then, my involvement, skills, and love for debate have grown. I have participated in two PANAMUN conferences and one THIMUN conference as a delegate. Through these conferences I have been able to form meaningful relationships with others to create resolutions, discuss important issues and come to agreements to better our world. Apart from debate I am in the student council, love playing basketball, and enjoy traveling. This year I have the great privilege of being a chair for the Middle School UNHCR committee. I hope you all are as excited as me for this conference and put in all of your efforts to execute a successful debate! Can’t wait to meet you all, see you soon!
