Laura Courteau

Hello Delegates and welcome to PANAMUN XXVI! My name is Laura Courteau and I will be one of your Human Rights Council chairs this year. I am currently a junior at the International School of Panama. I was originally born in Miami, Florida but moved to Panama soon after. I have lived in Panama for the past 15 years and am half French and half Haitian. This will be my third time participating in a PANAMUN conference. Apart from PANAMUN, I have attended other international and national conferences such as HACIA and MOAS. Outside of debating, I enjoy painting, reading, and spending time with friends. I am looking forward to this year’s conference and hope that you are too! If you have any questions or doubts, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. I look forward to making this year’s conference the best yet! See you in October!

Daniela Cobo

Hey there! My name is Daniela Cobo and I am currently a senior at the International School of Panama. To give you guys some information about me, I’ll start with where I am from. I was originally born in Colombia but when I was just a few months old, I moved to Canada. I lived in Canada for 10 years of my life and the last 6 years I have been living here in Panama. I speak English, Spanish, and French, so if you have any concerns, do not be afraid to approach me and speak to me in either language! This PANAMUN, I look forward to meeting all of you and getting to see you guys debate in the Human Rights Council (UNHRC). This is also my first year chairing, so I will try my best to get all of my delegates engaged in the debate, but most importantly, I want all of you to have fun in this committee. My past debating experiences have consisted of being involved in PANAMUN as a delegate. I started in 9th grade as a delegate in DISEC, sophomore year as a delegate of UNHCR, and last year I was a judge on ICJ. Outside of school, I enjoy many things, such as swimming, flag football, reading, drawing, and singing! I hope that all of you come into the Human Rights Council prepared and motivated to do well. I will also try to ensure that the quality of the debate exceeds expectations!
