SANTI UNSC.jpg

Santiago Gomez Montenegro

Greetings, my name is Santiago Gomez Montenegro, and I have the opportunity, and privilege,  to be one of the Presidents of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) during this conference. It is a remarkable honor for me to embody a leadership role in PANAMUN XXVI, a conference that allows young intellects to understand and debate about global issues. I am currently a senior at the International School of Panama and I have been part of this school for twelve years. Despite having lived for over half of my life in Panama, I am actually from Mexico City, Mexico. I enjoy science and math, weightlifting, and listening to music. My debating journey began in the eighth grade. Since then, each conference has successfully allowed me to become better at public speaking and at understanding problems that have an international impact. I found that through participation, debating becomes a more memorable experience, and therefore hope that you all are passionate about your position and the resolutions being debated.  I encourage all delegates participating in the conference to be assertive, thoughtful, and respectful of others in order to have a conference that will guarantee individual growth. I am enthusiastic about meeting all participants, but even more excited to help guide and facilitate the debating experience.

Paloma Manterola

Hello delegates and welcome to PANAMUN XXVI! My name is Paloma Manterola and I have the honor to be one of the Presidents of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in this year’s conference. I have attended the International School of Panama for over 8 years, and this is where I have been given the opportunity to grow as a person and meet new people from all around the world. Before coming to Panama, I lived in Venezuela, where I was born, and Argentina, my home which I visit every year. Throughout my life, I have explored a variety of activities such as art, swimming, and playing the piano, all of which l thoroughly enjoy. I also like debating, as I currently attend debate club and am passionate about partaking in conferences. However, when I was first introduced to MUN in 8th grade, I was anxious and scared. Since then, I have grown to love debating and I am thrilled to be a chair in my junior year. I wish to spark a love for debate in every delegate that is part of my committee. Not only shall we discuss controversial matters, but also have a good time and build new friendships.
