Mercedes Navarro
Hello Delegates, and welcome to Panamun XXVII! My name is Mercedes Navarro, and I am honored to be one of your Human Rights Council chairs this Panamun. To tell you a bit about myself, I am currently a senior at the International School of Panama. I was born in Argentina but moved when I was a just a few months old to Chile. After a couple of years I moved to Virginia, spent about nine years there, and then moved once again but to Panama. This is my fifth year living in this beautiful country, and my fourth year participating in Panamun and being part of the HRC! Debating is one of my greatest passions, even so that I have also been apart of other conferences such as HACIA debate. I believe that the concept of advocacy is one of the most important things in life. It seeks to ensure that the most vulnerable individuals in our society are able to have their voices heard loud and clear, even if they are being silenced. It works to defend the rights of those who have been stripped of them; and for this, it is essential. Outside of debate, I also enjoy playing flag football, singing, and spending time with my friends. I am extremely excited for this years conference and hope to make it an amazing experience, like the ones i've had before in this committee. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, doubts, or anything at all. I am looking forward to seeing some good quality debate, but have some laughs as well. See you soon!
