Maya Livne
Hi delegates! My name is Maya Livne and I will be your chair for this year’s World Health Organization in the 27th session of PANAMUN. I am currently a senior at the International School of Panama, which I have been attending for almost 13 years now. My nationality is a bit complicated: I was born in Quito, Ecuador, but I am of Israeli descent. Besides my passion for debate, I enjoy playing flag football, conducting scientific research, hanging out with my friends, and binge-watching Netflix. My debate experience extends back to the 7th grade, where I had the chance to participate in PANAMUN XXIII as an admin, and in 8th grade, where I participated as a delegate in both PANAMUN XXIV and the Montessori Model United Nations conference in Santiago, Chile. My most recent experience is being the CRISIS chair in PANAMUN XXV and last year’s DISEC chair in PANAMUN XXVI. It is my absolute honor to be able to be your chair and I hope you all are as excited about this year’s session as I am! It is in my best intention to provide you all with engaging and thought-provoking issues that will require hard-work and dialogue to come together and resolve. Mihir Balani
I would like to kindly welcome all of you to the 2019 PANAMUN XXVII conference. I'm Mihir Balani, this year’s co-chair of the World Health Organization committee. I have been a part of the ISP community for twelve years now and I was born and raised in Panama. My experience with MUN began in the eighth grade where I attended my first PANAMUN conference here at ISP, as a delegate of the Political committee. I have since then participated in Harvard’s HACIA Democracy, a Montessori MUN conference in Chile, and three PANAMUN conferences. My years at ISP has allowed me to find my passion for participating in conferences, for which reason I am looking forward to making this PANAMUN a successful and interactive experience. Being a member of the Global Issues Network team at school, in which we work to build projects that help tackle issues around the world, I have experienced first-hand what it means to try to solve issues that affect us on a global scale, and therefore I am thrilled to see every single member of the conference create strong and well developed resolutions that confront these issues that will be debated. Sharing a passion for debating and public speaking, this PANAMUN conference is an opportunity to connect with people from all around the world. My position as a student officer this year, as opposed to others, will allow me to facilitate delegates in building strong connections with each other and form insightful debates about the issues presented to them.
