The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development was established in 1964 and it is a part of the United Nations Secretariat that deals with trade, investment, and development opportunities of developing countries and aims to assist them with a sustainable integration into the world economy. One of its primary objectives is to create policies that will relate to all aspects of development: trade, aid, transport, finance and technology. The conference meets once every four years and it was created because during the time (1964), there were many concerns regarding developing countries over international markets, multinationals and the disparity between developed and developing nations. It provides a forum for developing countries to discuss their problems relating to their economic development which was not usually dealt with by organizations such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or the World Bank.
