Julia Hietavirta

Welcome delegates of PANAMUN XXVII! My name is Julia Hietavirta and I’m a senior at the International School of Panama. I was born in Venezuela and have lived in Brazil and Spain. I’ve spent 12 years now living in Panama. Nevertheless, I consider myself to be Finnish, as the entirety of my family is from Finland. I love singing, listening to music, reading, writing, and hiking, as well as debating, but that goes unsaid. I’m honored to be chairing the United Nations Environment Program this year. It will be my fourth PANAMUN conference, this time as a returning chair. I got my first chance to be part of PANAMUN in the eighth grade as a delegate in DISEC. My second year of PANAMUN I got into ICJ as a judge, and my third, I was chair of  SOCHUM. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to this year’s conference and I hope for a fruitful three days of debating! Please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me through whatever means if you have any questions or concerns. Let’s, together, making this the best PANAMUN conference yet! See you in October!

Laurencio Gerena

Hello delegates and welcome to PANAMUN XXVIII! My name is Laurencio Gerena, I’m eighteen years old, I’m a senior at Colegio Episcopal de Panamá, I’m originally from Chicago and I will be chairing at this year’s PANAMUN.  I’m extremely honored to be chairing at this year’s PANAMUN, especially the United Nations Environment Program. I've been debating since 2016, when I first moved to Panama, and it's been an important part in my life and personal development. During my time in debate I’ve had the honor of participating in both national and international debates such as: CEPMOAS, CIR, FLF, PANAMUN, HACIA Democracy, and SSUNS. In addition to debate, I enjoy spending my time playing sports like basketball and listening to music. This topic is very special to me and I hope all delegates prepare and enjoy debating it as much as I will enjoy chairing.
