Giandomenico Di Girolamo - Chair

Hello everyone! My name is Giandomenico (Gianni) Di Girolamo and I am thrilled to be the head chair for the UNHCR in PANAMUN XXIV. I was born in Santiago, Chile and I hold a dual Italian-Chilean citizenship. I have lived in Syria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Canada, Nicaragua and Panama. Though it was not until last year that I was welcomed into the world of MUN, I have been interested in international affairs and politics since I was eleven years old, living in Canada, and the Canadian federal election happened to coincide with the very beginning of the Arab Spring. Having grown up in a diplomatic family many of these issues were discussed at the dinner table. My first debating conference was DALE Nicaragua in my sophomore year, which was a model OAS conference. Since then I have had a passion for debate and was a delegate at last year’s PANAMUN in the Human Rights Council, I also represented ISP at the EagleMUNC conference held by Boston College in Boston. PANAMUN means a lot to me and once again I am honored to be in this position and I look forward to the conference!

Dixie Waigel - Co-Chair

Hello! My name is Dixie Sakti Waigel, and I will be your co-chair for the United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees. I am a Swiss and Ecuadorian junior, and I have lived in a variety of different countries throughout my life. During this time, I had the pleasure of meeting individuals from innumerable backgrounds and cultures. As a result of  this, I am now fluent in three languages, and partially speak five more. This significantly wide worldview is what caused my heightened interest in affairs discussed here in PANAMUN, and you will definitely be fascinated too. My MUN experiences started in 8th grade when I took part in PANAMUN XXI - which was, needless to say, nerve-wracking yet wonderfully eye-opening. Since then, I have attended a conference in New York, PANAMUN XXII, and EagleMUNC III in Boston - all of which were some of the best experiences of my life. I was also Deputy Admin during PANAMUN XXIII. Now, I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working as a co-chair alongside these amazing and highly-qualified officers.

We are certain that this year’s conference will be stupendous like no other, and that the committees will make tremendous progress. To global resilience!
